School Travel

Introduction

St. Michael's is part of TFL’s STARS scheme, through which we promote and facilitate active, healthy, safe and sustainable travel to and from school. Instead of
using a private car, the school encourages pupils and their parents to walk, cycle, scoot or take public transport to school.  Here are the highlights of our work this year and some of our future plans...

School Travel News

We have had a very busy few months developing our school travel plan. Every class enjoyed being involved in different activities.  Class 1 have begun their scooter training as part of an after-school club and the junior classes have been considering the journey to school through their "Big Street Survey" work.  Classes 5 and 6 took part in bikeability training and Class 6 also took part in a Junior Citizen Workshop, where they found out more about travelling safely on the TfL network.

Our Future Plans...

Here are some of the upcoming activities planned for this Summer Term:

  • Class R will be beginning the Walk About Talk About scheme, introducing road safety.
  • Class 3 will be taking part in pedestrian training.
  • Pupils will be using public transport on school trips, especially excursions into London.
  • Pupils will also be conducting research into idling and the effect on our local environment.
  • Check this web page regularly for future updates!!
