The school works very closely with St Michael’s East Wickham Parish Church.

The Reverend Peter Organ is the priest in charge and he leads our Morning Prayer on Thursday mornings, which is followed by a communion service for Classes 4, 5 or 6. He is also a regular speaker at Friday’s Family Collective Worship. Reverend Peter supports the School Council, the Faith Group and the Governing Body.  He also offers pastoral support to all members of the school community and is happy to support in Religious Education lessons.

We visit St Michael’s Church regularly for services at Michaelmas, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Ascension and the annual leavers’ service.  Parents and friends of the school are always welcomed at these services.

Classes also visit the church to look round and learn more about the building and its uses in the community.

Each classroom has a Christian prayer point, which is changed and added to regularly. They are a place where the children can come and ponder, reflect and pray. The areas have a variety of Bible verses, artefacts, pictures and verses to engage the children in thought and prayer.

Our daily Collective Worship aims to provide the opportunity for pupils to:

  • provide appropriate worship for children that brings them to a greater understanding of Jesus as the Son of God.
  • provide an appropriate atmosphere in which pupils can gain an awareness of spiritual aspects of life and worship.
  • foster a sense of a Christian, caring community where God is worshipped and each child and adult is acknowledged and valued.
  • enable the children to develop their own response to their spiritual development.
  • explore our response to the world we live in and apply Christian principles.
  • provide an opportunity for prayer and reflection.
