Year 6 MacMillan Coffee Afternoon

On Friday 28 September class 6 held their very own MacMillan Coffee Afternoon. All the class wrote invitations to their special people. We had donations of delicious cakes. A great afternoon was had by all....raising £206.81 for this wonderful cause.

Fern in Class 6 has written a short account of the afternoon:

On Friday 28th September, Class 6 hosted a coffee afternoon. We each invited friends and family to help us raise money for Macmillan. There was piping hot tea and coffee as well as an abundance of delicious cakes, cookies and biscuits. We  also had a variety of fun games and a raffle with some fabulous prizes. (I would be lying if I said I did not want one of the book prizes.) My mum had a great time; she indulged in two slices of chocolate cake. Her favourite part was spending some quality time with me.

Toilet Twinning

'Toilet Twinning is a water and sanitation charity initiative. Flush away the world’s toilet trouble with your very own twinned toilet':

Class 2 were shocked to discover that not everyone in the world has access to toilet facilities. They have decided as part of Harvest this year they would like to raise enough money to sponsor a block of toilets in a school in a less fortunate country. They are hoping to encourage enough people to donate to enable them to raise the £250 needed. If you would like to make a contribution, please send your cash in a clearly marked envelope for the attention of Mrs Chapman. Thank you.

Once again we will be passing all our Harvest donations to Bexley Foodbank. Last term some members of our Faith Group, along with Mrs Chapman and Mrs Parfitt, were invited along to Trinity Baptist Church in Bexleyheath to see how the Foodbank works and where our donations go after they leave the school.

Mental Health Awareness Day

On Wednesday 10 October, we marked Mental Health Awareness Day by wearing a yellow item of clothing. Over the week, all the classes took part in various activities that support mental health.

Classes had sessions of relaxation, yoga, mindfulness, on-line positivity sessions, discussion and debate on mental health and rainbow breathing to name a few.
